Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator and Breastfeeding Educator

I am a Mother of three wonderful children.  I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Woman’s University which led me to a career in wholesale sales.  After having my first child, a son, in 1996 in Austin, Texas,  I chose to stay at home.  I became actively involved with La Leche League while pregnant with him and continued my involvement until I became an Accredited Leader in 1999.  I have led La Leche League meetings/Groups in Austin, Killeen, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi.  My second child, a daughter, was born in 2000 and my third, also a girl, was born in 2005.  During that time I took on more involved positions with La Leche League of Texas which included my co-Coordinating the LLL of Texas Conference in 2006.  I also volunteered my time at my children’s schools in the classrooms and on the PTA.  I have found my volunteer work to be extremely rewarding and hope to continue with La Leche League for many years to come.

My personal birth experiences range from a picture perfect hospital birth to a pitocin induced hospital delivery at 42 weeks pregnant and then my final labor and delivery occurred in our home.  My own experiences and those of my friends and clients have exposed me to most of the varied aspects of childbirth.  I continue to educate myself so that I will be of the utmost benefit to my clients.

In 2010 after re-entering the workforce a few years earlier I realized that to be truly happy I needed to pursue my passion to assist Mothers, Babies, and Families through Birth Education, Doula work and Breastfeeding Education.  I am a Professionally Trained Doula.  I am a Certified Natural Childbirth Educator teaching the Bradley® Method.  I am also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  I continue to work with La Leche League here in San Antonio Leading the Central PM San Antonio Group.  In addition I am a Delegate on the La Leche League USA Council.  In the Fall of 2012 I was offered a Fellowship with the University of Texas School of Public Health in the area of Maternal and Child Health.  I was working towards a Master’s Degree in Public Health but have since decided to change directions in my ongoing education.  I am finding it’s so nice to just enjoy the journey and see where it takes me.
